5/16/2020 Jessica Schneider with Junkee Clothing Exchange, Tres Benzley with Caliber Hair and Makeup Studio and Karyn Jensen with The Human Resource Connection

As the owner of Reno staple Junkee Clothing Exchange, Jessica Schneider talks about her experience reopening the store amidst a pandemic. She speaks to the divide of customers: red vs. blue. Herself and her staff are learning how to navigate the two different types of customer. One is worried and scared while the other is frustrated and eager for things to go back to “normal.” After installing a hand washing station outside of her store front and asking all customers to wear face covering, Jessica has opened the Junkee doors.

Tres Benzley had a similar go to Junkee as he had to close the doors to his hair and makeup studio after being deemed non-essential. After getting to re-open, Tres talks about his experience applying for the PPP and EIDL loans. One came in at about half of what was expected and one got denied. Though something is better than nothing the business and it’s workers aren’t out of it just yet. With the Caliber team being made up of 1099 workers no one has been able to collect aid from the government - until Saturday.

Lastly, Karyn Jensen connects all the dots. As president and founder of The Human Resource Connection she guides us through how we are all going through the 5 stages of grief, courtesy of Elisabeth Kubler Ross. The imminent death of normalcy as we know it, has everyone - the business owners, employees and customers falling somewhere on the timeline. She speaks to how we navigate the red and blue customers.
